For 2020, we've celebrated Black Friday and Cyber Monday a little differently by donating £250 to Nottingham Hospitals Charity, in recognition all the wonderful work that our frontline NHS workers have been doing during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
As a small company based in Cotgrave, we understand that 2020 has been a difficult year for everyone, whether it's from the restrictions on visiting friends and family to financial uncertainties caused by the closure of non-essential businesses and services.
Throughout it all, the NHS staff at both Queen's Medical Centre and Nottingham City Hospital have been unwavering in their care despite the new challenges they have faced.
Since launching their 'Help Your Hospital Heroes' appeal back in March 2020, the Nottingham Hospitals Charity have raised approximately £275,000 which has been used to create two Staff Wellbeing Centres – one at City Hospital and one at the Queen’s Medical Centre.
According to their website: “These safe havens are places where staff can go to relax and unwind for a short time during challenging shifts, get a drink and a healthy snack, and speak to Wellbeing Buddies if they need support.”
Further donations for the charity have been earmarked for extra Wellbeing facilities and the provision of additional sleep pods for the NHS staff who need to take some time out for themselves and rest.
Marianne Burchell, Corporate Fundraising Manager, said: “We are so touched that our local independent [chocolatier], The Gourmet Chocolate Pizza Company, is choosing to support Nottingham Hospitals Charity this Black Friday.
"We know it’s been a hard year for many businesses, which makes this donation even more special. Care carries on at our hospitals throughout the Christmas period, for our most vulnerable and lonely patients, whether young or old. But, Covid has made it even harder, so this year the support of local businesses like The Gourmet Chocolate Pizza Company is more important than ever."
"Thank you so much for your kind support,” Marianne adds.

Hands up who loves Biscoff? Yep, me too and this is such a good recipe from our archives, that I thought I'd revisit it again for 2021. Picture the scene, sitting out in the sunshine, listening to your favourite tunes
Now that we have survived the deluge of May and are once again allowed to meet friends and family in the sunshine, it’s time to fire up the BBQ and head outside! Of course, not all of the BBQ needs
Super easy to make, these delicious Strawberry and Chocolate Chip Muffins were a big hit in my house, and a sneaky way to get some additional fresh fruit into the kids. I love fresh strawberries, so I'm always on the
